Gladiator: role and build decisions

Frontline fighter with a large blade. Read separately sourced Taiwan weapon and role details, purpose-specific choices and a local build worksheet.

Gladiator in the official overviews

Global class overview: Frontline fighter with a large blade.

Taiwan guide — 劍星: Greatsword. Melee attacker wielding a greatsword. The guide describes high attack and defense and a possible secondary-tank role.

The weapon and detailed role statements are from the Taiwan guide. They are not numerical Global build testing or proof that every regional patch uses identical effects.

Taiwan starter choices: learn a documented interaction

Practice approaching a target, maintaining a resource-returning attack, and recognizing a knockdown follow-up.

Official Taiwan skill names are retained so you can find them in that client. English labels explain the task; they are not verified Global skill names. Use only choices you have actually unlocked, and equip a Stigma only when available. These four options are not an equip-all loadout, a point allocation or a strongest rotation.

  1. Resource-returning attack chain

    銳利一擊 破裂一擊 憤怒一擊 / active

Use this named chain as the resource-returning part of the practice tray.

Why compare it: A repeatable resource-returning attack gives the other conditional buttons a clear baseline.

    • The guide lists damage, increased enmity and MP recovery. No cooldown or damage coefficient is supplied.

  2. Approach and stagger-gauge damage

    跳躍鑿擊 / active

Choose this approach option when you need to jump toward a target.

Why compare it: Its stated movement distinguishes it from a damage button that does not close distance.

    • A valid target is needed; no range or unlock level is supplied.

  3. Knockdown setup

    蹂躪劍 / active

Try this on a target that can be knocked down, then watch whether the knockdown state actually appears.

Why compare it: It supplies the stated target state for the next practice option.

    • The guide describes a different animation against action-immune targets. Do not promise control against bosses or immune targets.

  4. Knockdown follow-up

    下鑿擊 / active

Keep this follow-up beside 蹂躪劍 and use it when the target is knocked down or the game enables the action.

Why compare it: The target-state requirement makes this a concrete conditional pair rather than a fixed rotation.

    • Requires a knocked-down target in the ordinary case. The guide separately mentions a chance to activate against action-immune targets.

What these sources do not establish
  • This guide does not supply per-skill character unlock levels or point costs. No level-specific fully allocated preset is established.
  • Exact cooldowns, damage/healing coefficients, specialization-number choices and point-budget legality were not established from these descriptive rows.
  • Practice on eligible targets; no boss-control guarantee, DPS ranking, optimal rotation or simultaneous Stigma-slot capacity is inferred.

Damage first, with a second job at the front

Compare sustained melee damage responsibilities with the secondary protection your group expects. Check the current skill tooltips for the content you actually play; this is not a best-in-slot or damage ranking.

The questions below are our editorial preparation method, anchored to that role rather than a tested strongest setup.

  1. Will you stay in melee range or move between targets?
  2. Does your group expect you to cover a defensive responsibility?
  3. Which current specialization helps that exact encounter?

Turn the goal into a client-specific preset

The Taiwan skill guide distinguishes active and passive mastery skills, specialization conditions and Stigma advancement. Ordinary skill points and Stigma fragments are different resources. Read the effect and prerequisite in your current client before spending either.

For this greatsword role, record the weapon and equipment effects you already have, the current skill names you intend to change, and the encounter you want to handle. No universal stat breakpoint, exact slot count or best-in-slot list is assumed.

Make one change you can evaluate

Compare two choices on the same target with the same equipment. Record whether you were also protecting teammates, because that changes the job being measured.

Save the purpose, client patch and actual choices below. The manual damage-test calculator can compare your own measured totals, but a damage number cannot replace healing, control or protection responsibilities.

Looking for a macro? See the current macro-evidence boundary. This guide does not invent an executable Gladiator rotation.

Your build notebook

Write the exact choices shown in your client and what you want to test. This is a personal worksheet, not a point-budget simulator, a recommended rotation or a best-in-slot verdict.

Only Save writes these notes to this browser. Restore is explicit. Changing a game patch does not update the notes automatically.
